Printed Text: CANADIAN LOCK DISASTER. This view was taken looking west, and shows the tremendous force of the water as it rushed unchecked through the lock, as the upper as well as the lower gates were entirely carried away. Two large steamers which were in the lock at the time were hurled to the level below and both sustained serious injury but with no loss of life.
