About 1840, a secret society organization in Lambertville existed called “Forlorn Hope”. This was the origin of the “Lenni Lanape Lodge, No. 15”, International Order of Odd Fellows (I. O. O. F.), of New Jersey.
The first officers were Daniel Skinner, Thomas B. Carr, Martin Coryell, Joseph B. Gray, and Samuel Lilly.
In May of 1879, not to be outdone by the Masonic Lodge built on 21 Bridge St. in 1877, the Odd Fellows built a four-story building across the street in 1879.
It is no longer used by I.O.O.F today and no order of I.O.O.F seems to be in existence in Lambertville.
It seems likely that the building replaced another building at that location as the address of the earlier photo is also 26 Bridge St.
Today it is home to Sojourner – a shop that offers “Bohemian Luxury for your Home,” River Town Creative offering marketing and photography services, Laura Pedrick Photography, Eric Round Branding and Web Consulting, Lambertville Massage Therapy, and Artspan – creators of websites for artists, photographers and designers.
